    Marine Engineering – The New Wave’s Organizing Committee is pleased to announced that Mr. Brian Carter, President of Seaspan Shipyards, will give a keynote address during Friday, June 13th’s noon meal time break from technical papers.

    Mr. Carter will provide an update on the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) and where the program stands right now. Seaspan Shipyards was designated as the supplier of choice for the Canadian federal government non combatant fleet renewal plans. These plans represent a substantial investment in West Coast shipbuilding industry. The non combatant portion calls for 17 large ships, an investment of about CDN$8B and is expected to produce 4000 jobs.

    The Vancouver Island Branch of the Canadian Institute of Marine Engineering (CIMarE) presents Marine Engineering – The New Wave‎ – a technical conference on new technology, challenges, and overlap in the ship, marine renewable, and ocean technology industries targeted for marine and ocean engineers, naval architects, government, and marine technology and business developers.

    The conference will take place June 12 and 13, 2014, on the West Coast of Canada, at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa, located on the shores of Victoria’s picturesque inner harbour.
